Directors of associations and charities incorporated as Public Companies Limited by Guarantee have all the usual responsibilities of a Company Director plus the special circumstances of governing a not-for-profit organisation.

A practical and up-to-date understanding by directors and officers of their role, obligations and responsibilities is critical in assisting their association or charity meet its potential. Members, stakeholders and the wider community’s expectations of directors to perform their duties to the highest standards are increasing.

Associations Forum Pty Ltd’s two-day Company Directors Workshop uses examples and case studies to help Directors enhance their skills and knowledge necessary to improve their board’s performance.

Note to Associations incorporated under Associations Incorporation Acts: The Associations Forum’s workshop for Directors of Companies Limited by Guarantee is specifically designed for not-for-profit associations and charities incorporated under the Commonwealth Government’s Corporations Act 2001. While many charities and associations are incorporated under their respective state and territory Associations Incorporation Acts, governance principles are the same. As each state or territory Act is different, however, the sections of the workshop that refer to specific sections within the Corporations Act 2001 will not be directly applicable. The Company Directors of Companies Limited by Guarantee workshop would be relevant to Committee Members and CEOs of Incorporated Associations that are considering converting to a Company Limited by Guarantee.
